Not every issue with a light tower needs a service ticket, and not every issue should be worked around in the field — knowing which is which saves time on the easy cases and avoids risk on the ones that genuinely need professional attention.
See our troubleshooting guide for the fuller first-response checklist.
Attempting a field fix on something that's actually a safety issue — particularly anything battery-related — risks making a manageable problem worse. Sending back something that's actually a two-minute field fix wastes time and creates unnecessary downtime. The decision genuinely depends on the specific symptom, not a blanket rule either way.
Check warranty status and confirm through Service & RMA what's covered before assuming a repair will be free — see our warranty terms guide for what the standard coverage includes.
Run through the basic troubleshooting checklist first for anything that isn't an obvious safety issue. If the fault persists after basic checks, or involves anything battery-related, go to Service & RMA rather than continuing to troubleshoot in the field.
Battery seating or depletion, basic cleaning, confirming brightness mode before assuming a fault, and checking cable/connector seating on accessories.
Any visible battery damage, swelling, or heat; internal electrical faults not resolved by basic checks; mechanical mast issues beyond normal manual retraction; and failed seals with water ingress.
It risks making a manageable problem worse — battery safety issues aren't field-fixable the way a seating or charge issue is.
