A basic headlamp points wherever your head points — full stop. The moment the beam needs to go somewhere your head isn't comfortably facing, that fixed relationship becomes the limitation. The LI-2's 360° rotatable head is built specifically to break that relationship.
On a fixed-head lamp, aiming the light means aiming your face — tilt your head down to look at something below you, tilt it up for something overhead. That's fine occasionally. It's not fine as a repeated motion across a full shift of close-range work, where the thing you're looking at keeps changing position relative to where you're standing.
A rotatable head separates two things that a fixed headlamp forces together: where your head is pointed, and where the beam is aimed. It lets the lamp housing pivot independently of the headband, so the beam can be aimed up, down, or to the side without moving your head or neck to follow it.
It works, but repeatedly tilting your head to redirect light — especially downward at close range, like inspecting something at waist height — is awkward and tiring over a full shift compared to pivoting the lamp head alone.
